The Department of Philosophy was established in 1963.
The department of Philosophy is dedicated towards improving reasoning and critical skills among the students.
Skills gained by studying philosophy proves to be useful in almost any career. Students learn about questions, How to ask good questions and distinguish the worthy from the worthless questions. The Department prepares students not only to be active citizens of the country but also helps them develop an analytical thinking so that they can critically engage themselves with the issues concerning the social & personal life.
The study of philosophy benefits students intellectually, spiritually, and morally.

Vision

The primary aim of the department is to nurture and develop healthy Teacher- Student relation inspiring students with the vision to discover their inner potentialities in their own ways. Thus, encouraging them to cultivate their ability of, logical decision making and improve their creative thinking to realize the inner significance of life.

Mission

Our mission is not merely gathering knowledge about the world and its objects; but to promote value-based education with the love for such knowledge that would help the students emerge into a socially, morally and culturally enriched human being. The department seeks to inculcate this objective through group- discussions in the class on relevant contemporary issues and also through participation in various seminars, workshops and UGC programmes organized by different colleges and universities. This ensures developing better communication skill providing scope for future career enhancement and thus equip the students to get ready for 'Life'.
