The department of Marathi was established in 1960. The department of Marathi is dedicated to understanding and explaining the various meanings and practices of regular Marathi as well as literary Marathi . The department prepares students not only to be active citizens of the country but also helps them develop an analytical thinking  in Marathi. The focus of the B. A. in Marathi is to provide a understanding of different styles in Marathi like Rural Marathi, Dalit sahitya, Lok sahitya etc.Marathi is the study of  domestic culture, traditions, and rituals of different communities.   A background in Marathi is not only valuable for Marathi People but also enhance the knowledge and thinking of other language people.
